The Boyd Tavern has been registered as a Virginia Historic Landmark pursuant to the authority vested in the Virginia Historic Landmarks Commission Act of 1966The Boyd Tavern Foundation – Mission Statement:

The mission of the Boyd Tavern Foundation is to contribute to the culture and historic environment of Southside Virginia through the restoration, maintenance, and preservation of the Boyd Tavern as a historic landmark and museum.
